Welcome To Ireland

Ireland has a rich and complex history that spans thousands of years. Its earliest inhabitants were hunter-gatherers from the Stone Age and later the Celts arrived. Christianity was introduced to the island in the 5th century and the Vikings arrived in the 8th and 9th centuries. Norman invaders conquered the island in the 12th century, followed by English rule in the 16th century. In the 19th century, Ireland gained its independence and in 1922 the Irish Free State was formed. Today the Republic of Ireland is an independent nation with a strong cultural heritage.
